Who is Behind the Camera?
My name is Rasmus Rasmussen, a writer and photographer originally from Copenhagen, Denmark. I arrived in Seattle in 2005, planning to stay for a week, ending up staying for years. Somewhere along the way I fell in love with this city. As I began to feel at home, starting the '12 Seattleites' project, seemed like good way to give something back.
Building a new network in a new country from scratch, inspired me to come up with a rule for my project: All the subjects must be strangers volunteering to let me document their lives. On a personal level, the project is also a way to further explore and get to know my new home.
Apart from the '12 Seattleites' project, I work as a freelance photographer and writer. I shoot mainly portraits and stock photos, and I am an 'image inspector' for the leading microstock agency, iStockphoto. Besides photography, I have also written a couple of novels, made a bunch of music, podcasts and more. Check out the links in the sidebar.
